The Scarcity Model: Why We Only Make 10 Units

"Why limited edition streetwear at 10 units per drop is not a marketing trick — it is a philosophical commitment to the artifact over the commodity."

The Scarcity Model: Why We Only Make 10 Units

Every major brand will tell you their drops are limited.

They are lying.

"Limited" at scale means ten thousand units instead of a hundred thousand. The word has been drained of meaning by hype culture until it functions as little more than urgency theatre — artificial pressure designed to trigger a purchase before the rational mind intervenes.

State of Resonance operates on a different principle.

Why 10 Units?

Ten units per artifact is not a marketing ceiling. It is a philosophical commitment.

A commodity is defined by its reproducibility. When an object can be made in unlimited quantities, it becomes a commodity — interchangeable, fungible, stripped of particularity. The tenth unit is identical to the ten-thousandth. Nothing distinguishes them except price manipulation.

An artifact is defined by its finitude. When an object exists in genuinely limited quantity — not performatively limited, but actually limited — something changes. The object acquires a relationship to the moment of its creation. It cannot be recreated because the conditions that made it no longer exist.

This is what we mean by artifact. Not a product. A document of a specific frequency.

What 10 Units Creates

When 10 units of a garment exist in the world, the mathematics of scarcity shift entirely:

  • The wearer has a 1-in-10 chance of meeting someone with the same piece. That is not a mass market — that is a constellation.
  • The resale value of the garment is grounded in reality, not hype. Supply and demand at 10 units is a real equation, not a manufactured one.
  • The brand cannot coast on momentum. Every drop must justify itself. Every artifact must earn its existence.

Limited Edition Streetwear Done Honestly

The honest limited edition model is rare because it requires discipline. It means turning away revenue, manufacturing in small runs at higher per-unit cost, and resisting the temptation to "do one more print run" when demand exceeds supply.

We do not do second runs. When an artifact is gone, it is gone.

This is not cruelty. It is integrity. The scarcity is real, and real scarcity creates real meaning.

10 units. Always. No exceptions.
